According to the data of CIA The World Factbook of 2009 the population of the Earth is more than 6790 million people. Most of them live in ten world`s most populated countries.

China

China is the first most populated country. The fifth part of the world`s population lives in China. It makes up more than 1338,6 million people. Though the Chinese government tries to decrease the birth rate the population of this country grows by 8,7 million every year.

India

India is the second most populated country in the world. By 2009 its population is 1166,1 million people; it makes up 17% of the world`s population. The number of Indians constantly grows by 18 million people every year. So India seems to leave China behind and become the most populated country in the world.

The USA

The population of the USA makes up 4,5% of the world`s population. According to the data of 2009 the number of Americans is about 307,2 million people. By the way, the US population increases not only because of the high birth rate but also because of the great amount of immigrants.

Indonesia

About 3,5% of the world`s population lives in Southeast Asia, in Indonesia; 240,3 million people live there. Thus, Indonesia is the forth most populated country in the world.

Brazil

Brazil is the biggest and most populated country in South America. About 198,7 million people live there. In other words, Brazilians makes up 3% of the world`s population.

Pakistan

Pakistan is the sixth most populated country in the world. According to the data of 2009 the number of people has reached 176,2 million people; it makes up 2,6% of the world`s population.

Bangladesh

About 156,1 million people live in Bangladesh that is located in South Asia. Thus, the Bangladeshi population makes up 2,3% of the population of the world.

Nigeria

The population of Nigeria is about 149,2 million people that, in its turn, is 2,2% of the world`s population. By the way, Nigeria is in the list of top 30 countries with the highest birth rate and it may leave Bangladesh behind in a few years.

Russia

Among other above-listed world`s most populated states Russia is the first country with the death rate higher that the birth rate. According to the data of 2009 about 140,0 million people live there; it makes up 2% of the world`s population.

Japan

Japan is the tenth most populated country in the world. By 2009 its population has reached 127,1 million people; it makes up 1,9% of the world`s population
